The Mercedes-Benz plant in Mannheim is, as per last month, the new European centre of Daimler AG for the remanufacturing of Mercedes-Benz exchange engines for passenger cars, vans, buses and heavy goods vehicles.
Remanufactured engines for commercial vehicles have been produced in Mannheim for the past sixty years. New is the remanufacturing of passenger car engines at this location. The total capacity of the Mannheim remanufacturing facility is now 5,000 engines for HGVs and buses, and 12,000 for passenger cars and vans.
Daimler has invested 10 million euro in its 'Reman' project which has been running since May 2007 and involved relocation, redevelopment and qualification measures at the Mannheim factory, where 150 additional jobs have been created in the process.
